AITENGA WE EMPOWER!
TAILORING & HANDS ON SKILLS TRAINING
In a society where sewing skills are not just practical but also highly valued, Aitenga Women Empowerment Organization introduces the Tailoring and Hands-On Skills Training Initiative. Acknowledging the significance of these skills in Ugandan society, this initiative is a response to the increasing demand for practical expertise that can profoundly impact individuals and communities. With a focus on breaking the barriers that limit access to valuable skills, we believe that empowering women with tailoring abilities not only enhances their confidence but also opens doors to entrepreneurial opportunities.
What is the issue?
With a backdrop of 41% of people in Uganda living in poverty. The Ugandan Education system does not produce the appropriately skilled workforce that Uganda requires to increase income and employment and to compete internationally despite the fact that few individuals access the training. Today there are nearly 10.5 million Ugandans between 15 and 29 years of age, with this number expected to grow to 13 million by 2030. However, many young people are engaged in activities that are low-skill, low-earning, low-productivity, and low-value-added.
What Aitenga is doing?
The Tailoring and Hands-On Skills Training Project is designed not only to train technical tailoring but also to foster innovative thinking among disadvantaged community members especially Women. By instilling confidence and providing hands-on experiences, we empower individuals to integrate their acquired skills into their daily lives. This project is more than a training program; it’s a pathway to developing economically beneficial entrepreneurial opportunities.
