Smart Snack making Workshop

Aitenga Women Empowerment Organisation organised a Smart Snack Workshop for the women and youth in the Mugongo community. The workshop was attended by 30 participants,16 of which were community members and 14 were our students from the tailoring class.

 The workshop was facilitated by Ms.Zaitun Namuyaba from “Cakes and Shapes”, who offered an immersive experience for the participants through sharing both theoretical and practical knowledge about making simple yet popular Uganda snacks such as Daddies, Bagiya, Chapatti and Ugandan Pancakes through which they can earn immediate income.

Ms Zaitun taught the participants about best practices for maintaining such a business i.e. the importance of good hygiene, building customer relationships while working with different clients. She emphasized that the advantage of such businesses is that they give one financial freedom and independence which is very important especially  for women who want to live self-sufficient lives and also have the ability to take care of their families. Majority of the participants were pleased with the workshop because the start-up capital was low and the snacks were easy to learn. Aitenga strongly encourages our  community members to attend these workshops because the hands-on skills taught are practical, easy to learn , and can be applied immediately without the need for extensive follow-up training.
