PAPER BAG TRAINING WORKSHOP
In a bid to promote sustainable skills and economic independence, the Aitenga Women Empowerment Organisation held an impactful paper bag-making workshop on the 29th of March 2025, targeting vulnerable women and youth of the Mugongo community.

This workshop was facilitated by Mr. Mark Grace Kiyaaga and his team, who have been in the paper-bag making business for a long time, and have offered a number of training services to different communities. The workshop, held at the Aitenga premises in Mugongo equipped participants with hands-on training in crafting eco-friendly paper bags, a skill aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and reducing plastic waste. 16 participants attended the workshop, learning different techniques in durability, style and marketing strategies to turn their creations into profitable ventures.

Empowering women and girls with practical skills not only boosts their confidence but also opens doors to financial independence. This workshop is a step toward a greener future and economic resilience.
Participants expressed enthusiasm, with one attendee, Nakiberu Julian, sharing: “I am glad to be part of this workshop. I have a small Chips business. I have been serving my clients using polythene bags, now I am glad I can serve them using eco-friendly paper bags.”
