Grant Thornton Uganda x Aitenga Launch Skills Workshop in Naguru

In partnership with Grant Thornton, we had the privilege of bringing together an inspiring group of community members from Naguru Go Down and Bank Villages for a transformative skills training workshop. Over 112 participants including women, men, and youth, showed up with enthusiasm and curiosity, ready to learn practical skills in liquid soap making and paper bag production. These sessions offered more than hands-on training; they opened doors to both everyday household solutions and new income-generating opportunities.

What stood out most was the energy in the room. Participants were fully engaged, asking questions, taking notes, practicing repeatedly, and supporting one another. Their eagerness to learn showed that this workshop was not just another community activity, but a moment of discovery, empowerment, and renewed confidence. Many shared how encouraged they felt knowing that these skills could help them provide for their families and improve their livelihoods.

Akello Sandra remarked on the thoroughness of the workshop, saying, “The trainers had so many materials, enough for everyone. I have never attended a workshop this complete and well-organized.” Her experience reflected how well-prepared facilitation can enhance learning and ensure every participant benefits fully. Meanwhile, one of the male participants, who attended with his wife and daughter shared, “We came together to learn a skill that will help our family. This workshop gives us hope and practical ways to improve our livelihood.” His testimony highlighted the value of skills training in fostering family development and economic resilience.
For a community that often feels overlooked, this support served as a powerful reminder that their dreams still matter. This experience reaffirmed a simple truth: when communities are given the right tools and support, growth becomes inevitable. The unity, collaboration, and determination demonstrated in Naguru highlighted the strength that already exists within the community—a strength that only needs nurturing to flourish.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Grant Thornton Uganda for sponsoring and believing in this initiative. Your commitment to empowering communities continues to create ripples of positive change. We equally appreciate the leaders and residents of Naguru for embracing this opportunity with open hearts. And a special thank you goes to the Aitenga team, whose dedication, passion, and selfless service made this training possible. Together, we are building skills, building confidence, and building futures one workshop at a time.
