Better Choices, Brighter Futures

Aitenga successfully conducted an engaging Career and Education Pathway Workshop at St. Henry’s School Kyengera, bringing together over 305 students from Senior 1 to 4 and A-Level. What began as an overwhelming gathering quickly became a vibrant, interactive space filled with curiosity and participation.

Through discussions and activities like the Professions Card Game, students explored their interests, strengths, and future goals. Key topics included career pathways, subject combinations, vocational training, university options, scholarships, and free online learning opportunities. Many students expressed increased clarity and confidence in making educational choices.
“At first I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, but now I feel more confident about choosing subjects that match my future career,” shared one Senior 2 student.

A highlight was a keynote by Dr. Mirembe Joel, who shared his inspiring journey from a rural background to academic success through scholarships. He encouraged students to remain focused, consistent, and open to learning, reminding them that their background does not define their future.
“Your background does not limit your future. What matters is your focus, consistency, and willingness to learn,” Dr. Mirembe encouraged the students.

A-Level learners benefited from tailored guidance linking subject choices to career paths, helping bridge the gap between school and real-world opportunities. Students also asked thoughtful questions about job market realities, showing growing awareness and critical thinking. The workshop ended on a high note, with students feeling informed, empowered, and motivated to shape their futures with confidence hence continuity in achieving the Aitenga Mission .
